Nantes

I arrived in Nantes after a very long, slightly annoying train ride. Only to be greeted by sideways falling rain and a 30 minute fiasco finding my hotel. I knew that since it was Saturday, I needed to venture out after checking in (France, what is up with the hella late 5pm check in times???) - since on Sundays most businesses would be closed. I hadn’t eaten yet, and it was already 6pm. So I ventured out to walk around the city (despite the constant rain) and snap some photos of what I hope to be an indicator of all the delicious foods I will be eating here in Brittany.

I saw this shop selling lots of Kouign Amann, my favorite Breton pastry. I was really shocked to see all the different flavors, and this gave me some inspiration for when I return back home. I also saw a lot of candy and chocolate shops, but my appetite wouldn’t let me eat my first meal, albeit at 7pm, with sugar. So instead, I went to Monoprix (think Target, but French), and purchased some to go food - and snacks! I was really good and ate only one piece of the chocolate after my Tabouleh. But I have to say these mustard chips and nut snack mix was so good!

I am writing this post on my first and last day visiting the beautiful city. I’m not that upset that I have only a day here because I am traveling further into Brittany where I will have three days to really venture out and see things. I am not looking forward to however the journey, which is starting to wear on me as its the 5th city that I have landed in. But, for the sake of science, ahem, butter, one must prevail!!! Here’s some photos that I took of this city during an early morning walk, sans rain.

I don’t have much to report on food wise about this town. I enjoyed walking around, and I’m sure if I had more time I would have some excellent restaurants to review. Bisous!
